  • Riding trousers and lifebuoys in case of overweight
  • Measures against obesity

Men get lifebuoys on their bellies, women tend to lay around their hips and put on so-called riding pants: obesity is a tiresome subject in both sexes. In men, obesity is due to the fact that they are more likely than normal-weight people to be threatened by a heart attack or stroke. Because in some places, the fat sits "looser" than others and can cause serious health consequences. Therefore, measures against unnecessary kilos are even more important.

Is being overweight a disease?

Overweight is a real disease. This has not only recognized nutrition research. Soon every third German has a weight problem, already many toddlers weigh more than they should and in elementary school, the physical education teachers fight against the fat pads of the first and second graders.

Overweight and its consequences

The consequences for our fat society are devastating. Because in the wake of the storage fat lurk diseases that negatively affect both the quality of life and the life span. First and foremost is type II diabetes, also popularly known as "geriatric sugar". For a long time, however, it has not only affected the pensioner generation.

Children and adolescents have been more and more affected by this disease for several years. Follow closely cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke, which is no longer an exception in the generation between 20 and 30 years.

For young women There is a connection between obesity and an unfulfilled wish for a child and the heavy stress on the joints can lead to an outbreak of osteoarthritis.

Personal consequences of overweight

All these keywords can not scare some overweight people. In special Miss elections strongly overweight women are proclaimed ideals of beauty and their alleged courage in society praised.

But the personal consequences that result from these sequelae of overweight are often cruel:

  • Eye and joint diseases
  • often years of pain
  • taking medications with numerous side effects
  • mental stress

Which fat is more dangerous?

Especially the fat in the abdomen, the so-called visceral fat, endangers the organism. The reason for this is that these fat pads are particularly easily converted into free fatty acids and swim in the blood. Men prefer to store their bacon as a "lifebuoy" around the waist ( "Apple shape"). Much of the infamous beer belly is also inside the abdominal cavity.

The rider's trousers on the thighs and the padding around the buttocks that are more common in the female genus belong to the type of fat, which is rather difficult to mobilize ( "Pear shape"). They are attacked late by the organism and are therefore difficult to achieve in the context of a diet.

So here's the reason why men are so much more likely to be struck by heart attacks or strokes: their easily mobilizable visceral fat dissolves instantly in the blood with every effort, clogging the blood vessels leading to the heart and brain. And the risk of diabetes is greater with visceral fat.

The youth is affected more and more often

The main problem in the ever-widening youth see the doctors especially in the type II diabetes. What until ten or fifteen years ago only affected people over the age of fifty-five is now taking possession of the younger generations: a basically healthy, young organism loses control of its blood sugar level as a result of being overweight.

Due to the constant overload of the liver by the free fatty acids, a so-called Insulin Resistance. This means that while the body produces enough insulin to regulate blood sugar levels. The cells that need to respond to the insulin, but do not do this anymore.

A high BMI can promote diabetes

This association between overweight and type II diabetes, for example, is confirmed by a study of US nurses ("Nurse's health study"): With a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 35 and more, the overweight person carries a forty-fold higher risk to get such age-sugar. The BMI is a value that sets the body weight in relation to the size.
